Welcome …

Hi and welcome to For the Love of Truth (.net) …

Please, feel free to explore this website and let me know what you think.  I’m finding that keeping a website current isn’t easy, especially when it’s one among many interests … but I will slowly “fill in the gaps” over the next several months.

I had an interesting conversation with a friend just yesterday pertaining to one of my posts entitled Matters of Faith.  He was concerned that I was taking a dogmatic approach towards faith, especially with respect to issues where science seems to conflict with a straightforward reading of scripture … or scripture seems to conflict with the current understanding of science.  So, let me take this opportunity to make a couple of clarifying points about myself and this website:

  • Beliefs
    • Me: I do have unwavering beliefs about God, the Bible, and the manner by which human beings may be reconciled to Him, ultimately leading to eternal life in His presence.  The post entitled Why Should God Let Anyone Into His Heaven? provides some insight into my beliefs about salvation.
    • This website: My purpose in making such posts is 1) to teach those who want to understand the distinctiveness of Christianity versus other beliefs; and, 2) to enter into a conversation with those who believe otherwise.  I don’t intend to be dogmatic, but I do intend to challenge.
  • Science and Religion
    • Me:  I will tend to side with the straightforward (not literal in the sense of being unthinking) understanding of the Bible as opposed to the mainstream view of science.  My reasons may not always come across in a short post, but I generally have both scientific and theological reasons for believing as I do.
    • This website:  My purpose is to raise awareness that our beliefs about science and religion matter, that there are implications to uncritically accepting either the prevailing scientific or religious views on any particular subject.  For instance, the post that started the conversation with my friend was intended to demonstrate (in an ultimate sense) that there is only one truth, meaning science and scripture will never disagree when accurately and completely understood.  And again, I want to enter into conversation with you, my visitors.  I won’t be dogmatic in telling you what you must believe; but, at the same time, I will be direct in telling you what I believe so that we have something to discuss.

People of every generation have struggled to understand this world and whether there exists some ultimate reality, and consequently, an all-encompassing truth.  I believe that Truth does exist and can be known.  That’s why I launched this website, to make known the truth as I understand it.  I could be wrong about some things, but you’ll need to show me in what way(s) that’s so.  Let’s talk about it and learn from one another.

Do You Know What “Evolution” Is?

Do you know what “evolution” is?  That may seem like a silly question; after all, doesn’t everyone know what evolution is?  Could be, but I didn’t fully realize that it could have at least three different meanings until I heard someone … Continue reading

Not Just Any Word

“God” is a word that is commonly used yet rarely used in a common way.  By the word “God” some mean the all-knowing, all-powerful creator of the universe, utterly distinct from His creation, without whose continual sustenance the universe would … Continue reading

Mercy – The End of Sacrifice
